Sustainability

Environment

As textile manufacturers, we have to take responsibility for the environmental impact we cause.

Sustainable fashion is the future! Clothing brands and consumers must take action if they wish to be part of it.
For that reason, at Friendly Factories, we work carefully to have less impact in the supply chain.

If you want to develop a sustainable brand, we have the right materials and factories to work with.
Our factories are producing the minimum waste possible. The water inside the fabric is filtered and reused for the next cycle. The chemical waste is removed by a corporation administrated by the government. We also have factories with GOTs certificates and OEKO-Tex

Certificates

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. This certification provides credible assurance of responsible manufacturing with the least chemical inputs. Any natural fiber product, including yarn, clothes, or home textiles, can be GOTS certified.

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the world's best-known labels for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products (at all stages of production) tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety.

SMETA is an audit methodology, providing a compilation of best practice ethical audit techniques. It is designed to help auditors conduct high quality audits that encompass all aspects of responsible business practice, covering Sedex's four pillars of labor, health and safety, environment, and business ethics.
DID YOU KNOW?

Getting certifications is a very long process and cost a lot of money. Some factories prefer investing time and money in social actions for their employees and sustainable process instead of running behind a certificate. Please keep it in mind when choosing your sustainable factory. You are more than welcome to come visit our facilities to make up your mind !
Each factory has the certifications required by Portuguese law. Please note that we do an internal audit to have sustainable and ethical partners. Additional certifications, such as GOTS and OEKO-TEX, are subject to each factory.
Once your project is approved, ask your production manager to communicate the certificates of your factory.
